Valley School Drama Club

A fun and valuable extracurricular activity at Valley School, Drama Club is an opportunity for students of varying ages to work together and learn about stagecraft, lighting, costuming/makeup, and role-playing. The benefits of being involved in performance art are multi-faceted and provide physical, emotional and social development. 

  • Students gain self-confidence as they learn how to speak before the public, improving verbal and nonverbal skills, tone of speech and expression.
     
  • Listening, observing, and physically moving on stage under direction involves personal responsibility, collaboration and teamwork. 
     
  • Memory is exercised as students focus their minds to recite dialog and remain in character. Understanding character motivation and the subtext of stories involves imagination and creative thinking, encourages empathy and tolerance for different people and unfamiliar situations.
     
  • Show production develops knowledge and creative skills in music, lighting, costuming, scenery/backdrops and promotions.

ALICE ~ Zylee Montgomery; A curious and adventurous girl of different sizes.

SMALL ALICE ~ Katie Koontz; A curious and adventurous girl of different sizes.

TALL ALICE ~ Emma Johnson; A curious and adventurous girl of different sizes.

MATHILDA ~ Emma Johnson; Alice’s older sister, who is more logical and grounded than her sibling.

FRIENDS 1,2&3 ~ Hannah Hitch, Emma Hawkins, Stephya Kassa, Katie Koontz; Mathilda’s snooty friends who find Alice odd.

CHESIRE CATS 1,2&3 ~ Hannah Hitch, Emma Hawkins, Stephya Kassa; Magical felines in three parts who don’t always agree; friendly guides for both Alice and the audience.

WHITE RABBIT ~ Makayla Endicott; The perennially tardy royal trumpeter.

DOORKNOB ~ Daringjur Montgomery; Gatekeeper of Wonderland.

DODO BIRD ~ Megan Capoeman; Captain of the Queen’s Navy and referee of the caucus race.

TWEEDLE DEE & TWEEDLE DUM ~ Wyatt Hill and Jason Blair; Goofy twins with impeccable manners who are easily confused.

FLOWERS ~ ROSE: Caroline Gray; LILY: Josephine Phillips; PETUNIA: Nahayla Cliett; DAISY: Zeni Stevens; and VIOLET: Izabella Bates; The rudely exclusive Flowers of the Golden Afternoon

CATERPILLAR ~ Madisyn Hill; A charming, theatrical, and encouraging soon-to-be-butterfly.     

MAD HATTER ~ Sylus Mintyala; A tea party host with a penchant for hats and making up rules.

MARCH HARE ~ Jacqueline Tarr; The ever-celebrating and game-loving tea party host.

KING OF HEARTS ~ Izzy Fulkerson; The Queen’s placid partner.

QUEEN OF HEARTS ~ Kamillyah Dunn; The highly feared, hot-tempered monarch of Wonderland.

WONDERLAND ENSEMBLE ~ Evie Hankins-Wasco, Kiliah Hitch, Kaydence Kaliman, Judy Lane, Daringjur Montgomery, Reignbow Fulkerson, Jolene Prasser, Elizabeth Rapp, Blake Tarr and Dakota Tarr;
The zany, magical, and unique characters that Alice meets along her journey. This group includes participants in the Caucus race who are swept up by the ocean of tears; Party Guests at the March Hare and Mad Hatter’s tea party; and Royal Cards, servants of the Queen and King of Hearts.
